Miami's practice landscape

Miami-Dade County is international, bilingual and heavily cash-pay, with a large coaching and wellness market alongside licensed therapy practices. Median household income in Miami-Dade was $76,184 in 2024, a little below Florida's $77,735 (U.S. Census Bureau ACS 2024 via Census Reporter), but the county average masks high-income areas such as Brickell, Coral Gables and Key Biscayne where private-pay practices concentrate.

Seasonal residents, frequent travelers and clients with family abroad make telehealth and flexible payment central to how Miami practices work.

Three Miami workflows

Seasonal clients and location checks

Many Miami clients split the year between Florida and a northern state. While the client is in Florida, your Florida license covers the session; when they are in New York or New Jersey for the summer, that state's rules decide whether you can continue by video. Confirm and note the client's location at the start of each telehealth session; Prexella does not track it automatically.

Cash-pay packages

Miami clients are used to paying up front for wellness services. Clients buy session credits in the portal and book against them, every completed session uses one, and Prexella reminds them before a package runs out. Card checkout on the booking page handles single sessions.

A brand that works in two languages of marketing

Miami practices market in English and Spanish and often run their own websites. Prexella's white-label booking page and portal run on your domain with your logo, so clients move from your site to booking without seeing another company's name. Prexella's built-in forms are in English; ask on a demo how your own translated documents would be set up.

Telehealth scheduling

Each booking is marked telehealth or office in one calendar, telehealth clients receive their join link by email, and superbills use place of service 10 or 02. The video runs in the HIPAA-ready tool you already use. See telehealth.

Pricing and payments for Miami clients

Many Miami practices are entirely cash-pay, which makes the payment experience part of the service. Prexella handles three common patterns.

Single sessions paid at booking. The client chooses a session, picks a time and pays by card on your booking page before the appointment is confirmed. No invoices, and no payment conversation at the end of the hour.

Packages paid up front. Clients who commit to a course of therapy or coaching buy session credits in the portal, and every completed session uses one. Introductory offers can be handled with a promo code at checkout.

Superbills for clients with PPO plans. Clients who want reimbursement get a superbill at month end with your NPI, EIN, Florida license number, the ICD-10 code and CPT codes suggested from session length.

Whatever the pattern, clients see their own history in the portal: upcoming sessions, past sessions, signed forms and their remaining credit balance, all on your domain.

Coaches and wellness practitioners

Miami has a large coaching and wellness market. Coaches use Prexella the same way therapists do, minus CPT codes: clients book on the coach's own branded page, pay by card or buy a package of credits, sign the coach's agreements electronically and message the coach through the portal.

Frequently asked questions

My client spends summers in New York. Can I keep seeing them by video?

Only if New York's rules allow it for that session. While the client is located in New York, New York's licensing rules apply. Florida's own out-of-state registration only covers clinicians treating clients located in Florida.

Can a New York therapist treat my Miami-based clients?

A clinician licensed in another state can treat clients located in Florida by telehealth if they register with the Florida board under section 456.47 and meet its conditions, including no Florida office.

Can I sell coaching packages and therapy sessions together?

Each Prexella practice has its own session types and packages. If coaching and licensed therapy are separate businesses, run them as separate practices with their own branding and records.
