Prexella vs Healthie
Prexella vs Healthie is a comparison between a platform built for virtual-first nutrition and wellness companies and one built for private-pay therapy and coaching practices: Healthie offers tiered plans by active-client count, built-in video and an API, and Prexella is a white-label, flat-fee system on your own domain. Here is the honest comparison, with Healthie pricing checked on 10/10/2026.

The short answer
Choose Healthie if you run a nutrition, wellness or virtual-first care business, especially one with several providers or one that wants to build on an API, and you value built-in video and online programs.
Choose Prexella if you run a private-pay therapy, counseling or coaching practice, you want your own brand and domain on everything clients see, you want one-click superbills and a marketing suite in the same system, and you would rather pay one flat fee than a fee per team member.
Prexella vs Healthie: 12 criteria side by side
Healthie details are from Healthie's pricing page, verified 10/10/2026. Where a feature is not on that page, the table says so rather than guessing.
| Criterion | Prexella | Healthie |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | One flat fee for the practice | Core $19, Essentials $49, Plus $129, Group $149+ per month (billed monthly) |
| Client limits | None | 10 active clients (Core), 250 (Essentials), unlimited (Plus, Group) |
| Additional clinicians | Included in the flat fee | Group plan: $50/month per team member |
| Cost for 3 clinicians | Flat fee, quoted on a demo | Group from $149/month plus team members; see the math below |
| Free plan or trial | Live demo with your own services | 14-day trial of Plus, no card; no free plan |
| Online booking with payment | Yes, card checkout on your own domain | Payments at 2.9% + $0.30; booking flow not detailed on the pricing page |
| White-label / own domain | Yes | Not listed; email branding templates and calendar colors only |
| Superbills | One click, with CPT, ICD-10, NPI and EIN | Yes, listed as a premium feature |
| Telehealth | Scheduling and join links; video in your own BAA tool | Individual video from Core; group video on Plus; HIPAA Zoom at no extra cost |
| Programs and packages | Prepaid session credits and session packages | Online programs (Plus and up) |
| Marketing tools | Built-in marketing suite and newsletters | Group and blast messaging (Essentials and up), email templates |
| E-prescribing and insurance | No e-prescribing; claims workspace for your biller | DoseSpot $40/month per clinician; ClaimMD from $25–30/month + setup |
Pricing for a three-clinician practice
Here is the math for an owner and two associates.
Healthie. Teams need the Group plan, which the pricing page lists as "$149+" a month ($135+ billed annually), with team members added at $50 a month per clinician (Healthie pricing, verified 10/10/2026).
| Line | Monthly |
|---|---|
| Group plan (listed as "$149+") | $149 |
| 2 additional team members at $50 | $100 |
| Subtotal, if the base covers one clinician | $249 |
| Optional: DoseSpot e-prescribing ($40 × 3) | $120 |
| Optional: ClaimMD claims integration | from $25–30, plus $50–100 setup |
That is about $2,988 a year before add-ons. The "+" on the Group price means it can be higher, and the pricing page does not say how many clinicians the base includes, so confirm the exact figure with Healthie for your team. Card payments are 2.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.
Prexella. One flat fee covers the practice, whether you have one clinician or five, and it is quoted for your practice on a demo call. There are no seat fees or client-count tiers. A solo practitioner with a small caseload will usually pay less on Healthie's Core or Essentials plans; the comparison shifts as you add clinicians and want your own branding and marketing in the same system.
What clients see in each system
Booking and paying. A Prexella client books on your own domain: they pick a service, choose telehealth or in office, take an open time and pay by card in one flow. Every slot is checked on the server before it is confirmed, so double bookings and past-date bookings cannot happen. Clients can also buy prepaid session credits or a multi-session package.
Paperwork and check-ins. In Prexella, the client portal holds intake, informed consent, telehealth consent and privacy forms, signed with an ESIGN and UETA audit trail that records the consent statement, typed name, drawn signature, timestamp, IP address and browser. Clients also complete validated screenings there, including the PHQ-9, GAD-7 and C-SSRS, scored automatically.
Branding. Prexella clients only see your practice's name and domain. Healthie's pricing page lists email branding templates and calendar color schemes but not white-labeling or a custom domain.
What a practice owner's week looks like
Monday: open the dashboard to see the week's sessions, clients whose session credits are running low, and forms still waiting for a signature. Prexella emails clients automatically when their credit balance runs low and the day before the last session of a package, so you are not writing those reminders yourself.
During the week: every client gets a reminder the day before each session, and telehealth clients get the video link in the same email. Recurring clients keep their weekly slot without being rebooked, and new clients book, pay and sign their paperwork without a phone call.
Month end: generate superbills for out-of-network clients in one click each, review income in Finances, and check which marketing channels brought in new clients this month. In Healthie, the same week centers on its charting, video visits and, on Plus, the online programs clients work through, which is where its strengths lie.
Where Prexella wins
1. Your brand on your own domain
Prexella is white-label. The booking page, client portal and every confirmation, reminder and superbill email run on your domain with your practice name. For a practice that markets itself, every client touchpoint builds your brand. Healthie's pricing page lists branding for emails and calendars, not a white-label client experience.
2. No client caps and no seat fees
Healthie's lower plans are capped by active clients (10 on Core, 250 on Essentials), and its Group plan adds $50 a month per team member. Prexella is one flat fee regardless of caseload or headcount. A growing practice does not have to watch a client counter or re-price every hire.
3. Built for private-pay therapy and its marketing
Prexella's money tools are built around clients who pay you directly: one-click superbills from completed sessions, with CPT, ICD-10, NPI, EIN and place of service filled in, prepaid session credits, and automatic reminders when a client's credits run low. And the marketing suite keeps the ad results you record, video scripts and client newsletters next to the calendar. Healthie lists blast messaging and email templates, which cover client communication but not marketing reporting.
Where Healthie wins
1. Built-in video and online programs
Healthie includes individual video calls from its $19 Core plan, group video on Plus, and HIPAA Zoom at no additional cost. Plus also adds online programs for clients to work through. Prexella routes telehealth to the video tool you already use and does not have a program builder.
2. An API for virtual-care companies
Healthie is a common foundation for virtual-first care companies and startups that build their own apps, and its pricing page lists API access (with additional fees). Prexella does not offer a public API; it is a finished product a practice runs under its own brand. If you are building a product rather than running a practice, Healthie is the more flexible choice.
3. A low, self-serve entry point and clinical add-ons
You can start a 14-day trial of Healthie's Plus plan without a card, and its Core plan is $19 a month. It also offers e-prescribing through DoseSpot at $40 a month per clinician and a ClaimMD integration for insurance claims. Prexella is set up for you after a demo, does not offer e-prescribing, and hands insurance claims to your biller rather than submitting them itself.
Questions to ask before you choose
A demo or trial is the best place to test claims, including ours. Questions worth asking Healthie:
- Exactly how many clinicians does the Group plan include at $149, and what does the "+" depend on?
- Which plan do we need for our active-client count, and what happens when we pass it?
- Which features we need are premium, and what do API access and AI charting cost?
- Can the client experience run on our own domain, or only with our email branding?
- How are superbills produced and what fields do they include?
And questions worth asking us on a Prexella demo:
- What is the flat fee for our practice, and what does setup include?
- How will our client records be moved, given what our current system lets us export?
- Which video tool should we pair with Prexella for telehealth, and does it sign a BAA?
Verdict
Prexella vs Healthie depends on what kind of organization you are. A virtual-first nutrition or wellness company, or a startup building on an API, will get more from Healthie, and a very small practice can run on its entry plans for less. A private-pay therapy, counseling or coaching practice that wants its own brand, no client caps or seat fees, superbills for out-of-network clients and marketing in the same system will find Prexella the closer fit.

Frequently asked questions
Is Prexella cheaper than Healthie?
For a small solo practice, Healthie's Core plan at $19 a month (10 active clients) or Essentials at $49 (250 active clients) will usually cost less. For a team, Healthie's Group plan starts at $149 a month and adds team members at $50 a month each. Prexella is one flat fee for the practice, quoted on a demo call.
Does Healthie have a limit on clients?
Yes, on its lower plans. Healthie's pricing page lists 10 active clients on Core, 250 on Essentials and unlimited on Plus and Group. Prexella does not price by client count.
Does Prexella have an API like Healthie?
No public API is offered. Healthie is a common choice for virtual-care startups that build their own apps on top of its API. Prexella is a finished product that a practice runs as-is under its own brand.
Does Prexella include telehealth video?
No. Prexella schedules telehealth and in-office sessions in one calendar and emails clients the join link; the video runs in the HIPAA-ready tool you already use. Healthie includes individual video calls from its Core plan and lists HIPAA Zoom at no additional cost.
How do I move from Healthie to Prexella?
Export your client list and documents from Healthie, book a setup call so the Prexella team can configure your services, forms and branding, then send new bookings to Prexella while existing appointments finish in Healthie.
