SimplePractice Alternatives for Private Practices
The best SimplePractice alternatives depend on why you are leaving: per-clinician fees, paid add-ons, the lack of your own branding, or support. Below are nine options with pricing checked against each vendor's public pricing page on 10/10/2026.

Why practices look for SimplePractice alternatives
SimplePractice is one of the most widely used practice management systems for therapists, and the reasons people look for SimplePractice alternatives are rarely that it does not work. They are about cost and fit as the practice changes. Four come up most often.
Per-clinician fees. SimplePractice's plans are $49, $79 and $99 a month for the account, and adding clinicians is a Plus feature "starting at $74/clinician" (SimplePractice pricing, verified 10/10/2026). A solo therapist barely notices. A practice adding its second and third associates sees the software bill grow with every hire.
Add-ons on top of the plan. The AI suite (Care Aide) is listed at $59 a month for the account owner plus $49 a month per additional clinician, AI Note Taker at $35 a month, and ePrescribe at $49 a month plus an $89 setup fee, all before current promotions (SimplePractice pricing, verified 10/10/2026). None of these are required, but a practice that wants them pays for each separately.
No white-label. SimplePractice lists a client portal website and mobile app, but its pricing page does not list custom branding or running the portal on your own domain. For practices that are building a brand, clients signing into a vendor-branded portal is a real drawback.
Price changes and support. Reviewers on SoftwareFinder describe steep price increases paired with frustration about customer service (SoftwareFinder reviews). Reviews are anecdotal, but the theme is consistent enough to mention.
Nine options at a glance
Prices are the lowest listed monthly price, in US dollars, from each vendor's public pricing page on 10/10/2026. "Not listed" means the feature does not appear on that vendor's pricing page; it may exist elsewhere in their product, so check with them before deciding.

Each alternative, and who should choose it
Prexella
Prexella is a white-label practice management system for private-pay therapists, counselors and coaches. It combines online booking with card checkout, prepaid session credits, one-click superbills, a client portal with e-signed forms and PHQ-9 and GAD-7 check-ins, and a built-in marketing suite, all on your own domain. It is priced as one flat fee for the practice, set up for you, and quoted on a demo call.
What it does not do: Prexella does not host video itself. It schedules telehealth and sends join links, and the session runs in the HIPAA-ready video tool you already use. It also lists fewer clinical documentation tools than SimplePractice and has no AI note-taking.
Choose Prexella if most of your clients pay privately, you want the practice to carry its own brand, and you are adding clinicians and do not want a per-seat bill.
TherapyNotes
TherapyNotes is a behavioral-health EHR built around insurance billing. Solo is $69 a month; Group is $79 for the first clinician plus $50 per additional clinician, with unlimited non-clinical users. Basic telehealth is free, premium telehealth is $15 per clinician, and claims, eligibility checks and text reminders are 14 cents each (TherapyNotes pricing, verified 10/10/2026). TherapyNotes raised its prices from December 1, 2025 (TherapyNotes announcement).
Choose TherapyNotes if most of your revenue comes from in-network insurance and claims workflows matter more than branding or marketing.
Jane App
Jane is popular with multi-discipline clinics: physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage and counseling under one roof. Plans are $59, $79 and $99 a month, with additional full-time practitioners at $35 or $40 a month. Superbills and CMS-1500s are included, and its Websites add-on is $59 a month per clinic (Jane pricing, verified 10/10/2026). Jane states that it does not offer a free trial.
Choose Jane if you run a clinic with several disciplines and want polished online booking across all of them.
Practice Better
Practice Better is built for nutrition, functional medicine, coaching and wellness practitioners who sell programs. There is a free plan for up to three clients; paid plans run from $35 to $155 a month, with additional practitioners at $50 on the Team plan. Superbills and telehealth are included from Starter, and Plus adds portal branding and a personalized URL (Practice Better pricing, verified 10/10/2026).
Choose Practice Better if you sell structured programs and courses and your clients are mostly wellness rather than therapy clients.
Sessions Health
Sessions Health is a lower-cost EHR for therapists: free for up to three clients, then $39 a month for the first practitioner and $29 for each additional one. Telehealth is a $10-per-practitioner add-on, and automated superbills are listed (Sessions Health pricing, verified 10/10/2026). Some reviewers on Capterra say they moved to it from SimplePractice over cost and service.
Choose Sessions Health if price is your main reason for leaving and you do not need branding or marketing tools.
Healthie
Healthie targets nutrition, wellness and virtual-first care companies, including startups that use its API. Plans start at $19 a month for 10 active clients and go to $149 or more for groups, with team members at $50 a month each. Telehealth is included, superbills are a listed premium feature, and Plus adds online programs (Healthie pricing, verified 10/10/2026).
Choose Healthie if you run a virtual-first nutrition or wellness business or need an API to build on.
Carepatron
Carepatron has a free plan with unlimited clients and telehealth, and paid plans billed per user at $31 and $39 a month, currently discounted for six months. It is the only product here besides Prexella that lists white labeling, on its Advanced plan (Carepatron pricing, verified 10/10/2026).
Choose Carepatron if you want the lowest possible cost to start and are comfortable with per-user pricing as you grow.
Upheal
Upheal started as an AI note-taker and now offers EHR plans: free, $39 a month for unlimited AI notes, $1 per session for the EHR, or $99 a month for EHR Pro. Telehealth is included and superbills are on the EHR plans. Branding is limited to your logo and colors on forms, telehealth and the portal (Upheal pricing, verified 10/10/2026).
Choose Upheal if AI-generated progress notes are your priority and you want a light EHR around them.
TherapyAppointment
TherapyAppointment prices by usage: $10 a month until you book more than 10 sessions, $39 until 39, then $59. Group practices pay $59 plus $39 per additional clinician. Telehealth is a $15 add-on, or $5 to use your own Zoom (TherapyAppointment pricing, verified 10/10/2026). Reviewers on Capterra describe the interface as functional but dated.
Choose TherapyAppointment if you are just starting out with a small caseload and want your bill to grow with it.
How to choose
Start from why you are leaving SimplePractice, then narrow the list:
- Cost as you add clinicians: multiply each per-clinician fee by your headcount next year, not today. A flat fee, as with Prexella, only beats a per-seat plan once you have more than one or two clinicians. Request a quote and compare the real totals.
- Insurance-heavy practice: TherapyNotes or Sessions Health keep claims at the center.
- Your own brand and domain: Prexella, or Carepatron's Advanced plan for branding without your own domain.
- Programs and packages: Practice Better or Healthie for wellness programs; Prexella's session credits for prepaid therapy sessions.
- Marketing in the same system: Prexella's marketing suite, or Jane's Websites add-on for a site builder.

How to switch
Switching is mostly a matter of order. Export what SimplePractice lets you export before you cancel, set up your services, forms and branding in the new system, send new bookings there, and let existing appointments finish in SimplePractice for one billing cycle. The step-by-step version is on how to switch to Prexella, and you can request a demo to see your own session types set up before you commit.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest SimplePractice alternative?
On list price, Healthie starts at $19 a month and Practice Better, Sessions Health, Carepatron and Upheal all have free plans with limits on clients or features. TherapyAppointment starts at $10 a month until you book more than 10 sessions. The cheapest option for your practice depends on clinician count and which add-ons you would need, so compare the total, not the starting price.
Which SimplePractice alternative has no per-clinician fee?
Prexella is priced as one flat fee for the practice. Every other product in this comparison lists a per-clinician or per-user charge for additional providers, except Upheal, whose per-seat price is not listed on its pricing page.
Which alternatives let me use my own branding?
Prexella runs on your own domain with your practice name throughout. Carepatron lists white labeling on its Advanced plan, and Practice Better lists portal branding and a personalized URL on its Plus plan. The others do not list white-label or custom domains on their pricing pages.
Can I move my client data out of SimplePractice?
Export what SimplePractice lets you export, such as your client list and documents, before you cancel, and keep those exports for your records-retention obligations. Then run both systems for one billing cycle so no session or superbill is missed. Our switching guide covers the order.
Is SimplePractice still a good choice?
For many practices, yes. It is an established all-in-one EHR with telehealth in every plan, strong documentation tools and paid AI and e-prescribing add-ons. It is a weaker fit if you want one price for a growing team, your own branding, or marketing tools in the same system.
