Practice Management Software for Therapists & Coaches in Georgia
Georgia's group-practice market centers on metro Atlanta, and in June 2026 Georgia began issuing Counseling Compact privileges. Counselors, social workers and MFTs share one composite licensing board, and the state's TeleMental Health rule adds a training requirement before you see clients by video. Sources for each rule are linked below.

Georgia licensing boards for therapists
Georgia splits mental health licensing between two boards under the Secretary of State's Professional Licensing Boards Division.
| License | Board | Source |
|---|---|---|
| LPC, Associate LPC | Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists | Composite Board fee schedule and licenses |
| LCSW, LMSW | Georgia Composite Board (same board) | Composite Board licensing forms |
| LMFT, Associate MFT | Georgia Composite Board (same board) | MFT application |
| Licensed psychologist | Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychologists | About the board |
The Composite Board's fee schedule lists the LPC, Associate LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT and Associate MFT applications, each at $110, and the board meets monthly to review complete applications.
How Prexella stores this. Prexella's billing settings hold the provider's Georgia license number, individual NPI, group NPI, EIN and taxonomy code, and every superbill prints them, so a client's out-of-network claim carries the identifiers Georgia insurers look for.
Telehealth: the TeleMental Health rule, PSYPACT and the Counseling Compact
Georgia's Composite Board regulates telehealth through Rule 135-11-.01, TeleMental Health. It covers delivery by telephone, video, internet, smartphone and computer, requires appropriate encryption, and requires at least six continuing education hours in TeleMental Health before a licensee provides it. Supervisors who supervise by video must obtain the supervisee's verbal and written consent first. The rule tells licensees serving clients in other states to check that state's telemental health rules, which reflects the general principle that the client's location governs.
- Counseling Compact: issuing privileges. Georgia is a compact member, and the board announced that the Counseling Compact began issuing privileges for Georgia on June 2, 2026. Counselors in other compact states can apply for a Georgia privilege, and Georgia LPCs can apply for privileges elsewhere.
- PSYPACT: yes. Georgia's psychologist board rule 510-9-.03 sets the conditions for practicing in Georgia under PSYPACT authority, including up to 30 days a year of temporary in-person practice with a valid Temporary Authorization to Practice.
How Prexella's telehealth calendar handles it. Clients choose telehealth or in office on the booking page, the session carries that visit type, and superbills apply your default telehealth place-of-service code (10 for the client's home, 02 for elsewhere) to video sessions. Prexella does not record the client's physical location on the booking, so confirm it at the start of each video session. For counselors using compact privileges, that check is what confirms which state's rules apply.
Georgia insurers and cash-pay rates
KFF's 2024 market data shows a commercial market led by Anthem in large employer plans and by national carriers in small group and the individual market (large group, small group, individual). The five largest across those markets:
- Elevance Health (Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia): 43% of large group
- UnitedHealth: 39% of small group
- Cigna: 26% of small group, 15% of large group
- Kaiser Permanente: 24% of large group
- Centene (Ambetter): 40% of the individual market
Oscar Health holds another 25% of Georgia's individual market. Out-of-network coverage varies widely between plans, so check a client's benefits before suggesting a superbill will be reimbursed.
Georgia's cash-pay rates sit near the national middle: one 2026 estimate puts the average private-pay session at $155 (TherapyExplained, March 2026), compared with a $139 national average in SimplePractice's 2023–2024 data (SimplePractice).
E-signatures and records retention in Georgia
E-signatures. Georgia adopted the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act at O.C.G.A. Title 10, Chapter 12, which gives electronic records and signatures the same legal effect as paper. Prexella's e-signatures store an audit trail of the consent statement, typed name, drawn signature, timestamp, IP address and browser for each form.
Records retention. For psychologists, Rule 510-5-.04 requires records to be kept seven years after the last date of service for adults; for minors, three years after the age of majority or seven years after the last service, whichever is later. The Composite Board's ethics rule 135-7-.03 makes failing to store and dispose of client records confidentially unprofessional conduct, but we did not find a fixed retention period in its rules. Confirm your period with the board. Prexella keeps client records, forms and superbills in your own database for as long as your account is active.
Setting up a Georgia practice in Prexella
What a Georgia practice typically configures in its first week, based on the rules above:
- TeleMental Health training first. Complete the six continuing education hours Rule 135-11-.01 requires before turning on telehealth session types. Keep the certificates with your license records.
- Session types for each service. Individual, couples, family and group sessions each get their own price and length. Superbills suggest 90791 for intake, 90847 for couples and family work, and 90853 for groups, and you can change any line.
- Billing settings. Enter the Composite Board or psychology board license number, NPI, EIN and taxonomy code once.
- Consent forms in the portal. Send informed consent, telehealth consent and the privacy notice from the Forms tab so clients sign before session one, under Georgia's UETA.
- A retention schedule. Psychologists keep adult records seven years after the last service under Rule 510-5-.04; set a written schedule for the rest of the team and note it in your policies.
- Compact privileges. If a counselor in your practice works under a Counseling Compact privilege, keep a note of which states their video clients are located in; Prexella does not track client location.

Which insurers should my Georgia superbills be ready for?
In KFF's 2024 data, Elevance (Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia), UnitedHealth, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente and Centene's Ambetter plans are among the largest commercial carriers. Prexella's superbills work with any of them for out-of-network claims.
Is Prexella priced per clinician?
No. Prexella is one flat fee for the practice, quoted on a demo call, so adding associates does not add seat fees. Billing details such as NPI and EIN are set at the practice level in billing settings.
